Who we are

Ramsay Farms is situated in the northeastern part of Ottertail County, near Perham, Minnesota. This family farm of 320 acres has been in the Ramsay family for five generations, dating back to 1892. Today our farm prides itself on our Simmental cattle, Shetland Sheep and BlueFaced Leicester sheep. We strive to breed animals that closest match the breed standards given to them, and mindful of production, health and longevity in our animals as well.
In spring of 2016, there was a purchase of 32 acres in Green County, Wisconsin to accommodate Garrett for his work in that region. The animals have for the most part been moved to that location. Both locations will work in tandem to continue educating and promoting these animals and this way of life.

Jefferson entries

This is my first year entering an entire string of sheep for a show!

I have two senior rams: Jazz and Levi, two yearlings, Flo Rida and City High, and two ram lambs, Radler and most likely Kastrel, although idk if I want to show horned rams or polled. Either way my 'pair' of lambs would look identical. I'm also bringing 2 senior ewes, 2 yearlings and 2 lambs. I wrote down some i'd bring but I may change my mind. I want to do dam/daughter class and fleece on hoof too, as well as small flock....gosh so much to do. so little time......

You still have time to enter a few for yourself! enjoy some fellowship and laughter with a great group of people! Should be an educational weekend as well as fun and maybe even a few new sheep?? See you in a few weeks!

Transport needed

I have two Shetland rams that need transport to Maryland. Buyer is unable to meet anywhere to pick up the rams but is willing to pay expenses involved for transporting. I would be able to bring them to Jefferson, WI or could meet elsewhere if necessary. Please pass the word. Thanks

My new motto

It is better to understand a little than to misunderstand a lot.

I think many people could use this as their motto, or at least live by it. Educate, educate, educate before you make a fool of yourself (or worse, others). And learn what is REAL and not just hearsay. Off to clean the chicken coops...
