FirthofFifth Kamachariy (Forrest x Koosi) is a fawn katmoget ewe who carries polled. She was bred to WhitePine Levi (F1 Jamie) and produced this stunning dark gray katmoget girl! To say I am pleased is an understatement! :)

Polled Breeding Group plans

I am excited to use my F1 Jamie boy WhitePine Levi this fall on all the poll carrier and poll suspect ewes. Levi is a black krunet smooth polled ram out of Willocroft Jamie and River Oaks Lucy (Dillon and Holly lines). He is almost 64% UK, fine fleece, with good conformation and personality. Carries moorit and spots.

He will get:

FirthofFifth Koosi - F1 Jericho - gray katmoget. Koosi was bred to Heatheram Lightning last year and gave me a poll carrying ram lamb with long scurs. She is homozygous katmoget but carries moorit so could get either black or moorit based katmogets.

Justalit'l Black Lambo - (Holly and Timothy lines) - black ewe. Lambo has given her stamp to the breed with lots of descendants, and improvable fleece. She carries moorit and spots and has been bred in the past to Dillon, Orion and Jericho for AI. She has not dissappointed. Aa/Aa babies.

FirthofFifth Ashanti - moorit smirslet. She is a Forrest daughter out of Bramble ewe lines. This past fall I bred her to Orion and I got a gorgeous moorit krunet and a mioget. Both ewe lambs. I could get some pretty spotted babies (and Aa/Aa babies!)

OwlHill Miss Lilly - black ewe who carries spots. F1/F4 Holly F2 Orion. Lilly gave me a mioget smirslet ram lamb out of Orion this year. She is a proven poll carrier and I'm excited to see what Levi and her can produce. All Aa/Aa lambs.

WhitePine Bethany - F1 Orion fawn ewe. Bethany is Lambo's daughter and I'm eager to see what the Orion influence will do with Lambo's lineage. Again only Aa/Aa lambs.

FirthofFifth Blottir - gray katmoget. Another Forrest daughter who is half siblings with Barish and Booto on the dam's side. She may carry spots, modified and moorit but hard to say. Aa/Aa or Ab/Aa lambs.

FirthofFifth Kamacheriy - fawn katmoget. She really is my favorite ewe. Body capacity, structure, fleece. She was bred to Eprhaim this year and had a scurred ram lamb. She's a proven poll carrier and so Levi was an obvious choice. Another Forrest daughter out of Koosi, she also will be an exciting one to see bred to Levi.

FirthofFifth Agio - yuglet sokket black gulmoget. Sweet personality and dynamite fleece, this ewe really is perfection. Bred to Levi I can hardly wait to see what she has next spring.

I could put a lot of ewes with him just to improve conformational points, or fleece, but we'll use him just on poll carrier ewes this year and see what he produces. This last year he was used as a clean up ram and the lambs were structurally amazing, and most had wonderful fleeces.

White Pine Levi

I took these photos back in May and never got around to posting them.

Levi is a black krunet F1 Willowcroft Jamie yearling ram. He rooed entirely back a few months ago. He is silky soft with lots of luster (for a black!!) and I could use his fleece to stuff a pillow case with and sleep on its so soft. He was used as a clean up ram last fall and I am really pleased with his get. He'll be used more heavily this fall along with his half brother.
He wouldn't stand still for a photo, but his legs are pefectly square on flat surface. He's an easy keeper, a very respectful, friendly ram.
His half brother (both are out of Becky's RiverOaks Lucy) is out of Greenholme Holly and is a smirslet moorit. I love my modified lambs but I believe he'll stay a nice dark red moorit and that is what i need right now. he's also smooth polled and has the same consistent and crimpy fleece of his 1/2 brother. I also plan to use him a lot this fall.

I'm not 'going polled' but will welcome the diversity in my flock, just as I have horned ewes, all the patterns and colors and the array of spotting gene patterns too :)

A few poll carrier rams

Meet WhitePine Arvada. He's going to be a scurred boy out of Jazz and Meleng (she's the poll carrier!) He had tiny tops of Hershey Kisses on his head and now they are starting to thicken and get slightly larger. He still is polled. Lyons, who is the same age has horns that are quite apparent and over six inches long! Arvada will do great things for Sabrina up in the Northern Woods.



Here is WhitePine Romeo with his yearling momma Rahu. Rahu is out of Wintertime Black Forrest the gulmoget and RYL Rachildas (who I also have). His daddy is FirthofFifth Barish, who has long scurs and is an F1 Timothy. I expect Romeo to stay jet black like his grandfather, Timothy, and he is very crimpy and soft already. Rahu is one of my top 3 for Finest Fleeced ewes.

This is Romeo's rear. Quite straight (except for him leaning). Its hard to get good photos of BLACK sheep as their color sucks up any definition with a camera. Guess you'll just have to stop in and see him!

I'm still learning!!

I went out to check horn buds on all the ram lambs when I brought them in for their evening feeding.

Boy was I surprised!

If what I'm feeling/seeing is true I have some exciting news for you pollie nuts!

WhitePine Parker, the musket smirslet out of Forrest and Peep is a smooth poll. At three weeks old he has ZERO horn bud and only hair where the bud should be!!!

And Rahu's boy, he's appearing to have just tiny button scurs. Time will tell

The rest of the boys are going to have fairly large horns, which is fine by me!

Where is Juliann when I need her....I wish we all lived much closer....learning would be much faster!

Possible Poll Carriers

I know Sabrina, Becky, Kim and Michelle (and especially Juliann) will be pleased to see I did some research of my lines for poll genetics. I'm sure i missed some, but here are the ones I have:

Rachildas - mature white ewe. She goes back to Dailley Alabaster who is a known producer of polled rams.

Lavender - mature fawn ewe. She goes back to Walnut Rise Cameron, also a known producer of polled rams.

Shasta - mature horned ewe. Despite her horns, she goes back to Dailley Alabaster twice (one on each side of her pedigree) as well as Holly, who is a known producer of polled rams also.

Meleng - mature shaela ewe - She goes back to Holly, and also back to Timothy twice. Also Underhill Brando. We have found recently that Timothy had a polled ram in his background. That would explain Barish's scurs.

Rooibos - mature fawn ewe - She goes back to Timothy, Holly AND Underhill Brando, another known producer of polled rams.

Peep - mature musket ewe - goes back to BK6 which was one of the early domestics that was a poll producer

Tailka - black gulmoget yearling - Roban dillon and BK6 are both in her background

Rahu - white yearling ewe - Roban Dillon and BK6 are also both in her background as well as Dailley Allabaster.

Gracie - moorit smirslet sokket ewe - Underhill Brando

Skippy - fawn smirslet - goes back to Wind River Blossom a ewe that was known to throw polled rams

Slipper - moorit smirslet - also goes back to Wind River Blossom.

Skor - emsket yearling ewe - daughter to Meleng, will also go back to those that Meleng do.


Eat your heart out girls :) The greatest thing is Barish who we are now realizing is a half poll, (long scurs) was bred to Gracie, Skippy, Skor, and Rahu. We may just have a few polled rams. Don't forget Forrest a poll carrier was bred back to his daughter, Tailka, as well as Peep.
