Sheltering Pines Fleur de Lis

I was able to buy this ewe from Stephen as a yearling. She was a favorite of mine when she was a lamb and I jumped at the opportunity to purchase her from him when she became available. She has produced me three quality lambs in three years (always has singled) and all have had minimal spotting. Next year I hope to breed her to one of the spotted moorit rams I got this fall to see if I can get some wildly spotted lambs from her.

Her mid-side parted fleece:

Fleur is a smirslet gray katmoget. I love the fact that she doesn't have any white on her tail or legs so it makes her face even more stand out.

When Kate Sharp and Alan Hill picked her out of my ewe flock of 50+ girls and they commented on how she stood out as a nice sized ewe, with loads of Shetland type and very typical of what you would see in the UK.

She has mostly Minder, Timothy and Jamie in her background, and has been bred to Greenholme Holly, and to Jazz (Todhill Jericho son) and she has crossed really well on all of those lines. She is four this year and has a long life of producing fantastic lambs ahead of her.

A Favorite Ewe Lamb...

A favorite ewe lamb of mine....she is 79.5% out of Campaign Timothy and WhitePine Centennial (Jazz x Chloe, also twin to Castle Rock). Centennial has really decided now (at two) to be extremely friendly like her mother Chloe. This ewe lamb runs up to me and stares at me, but won't let me scratch her, but she sure gives me the once over (or 100 times over) every time she see's me.

Centennial was my favorite lamb from 2008, and still remains one of my favorite ewes..both in structure, and fleece. I think her girl is a stunner too.

Thoughts?
In this photo Momma Centennial is getting rooed. I sheared early this year in hopes of having longer fleeces for the shows, but most of the ewes (no rams) all went through the rise late May/early June. *sigh*

I stand corrected!

Thank you Karen for pointing out some long lost Enfield Greyling in Wally's stock. As luck would have it....WSR Alisa (the ewe I brought home) is 1.5625% UK!! :)

I have plans on breeding her to UnderTheSon Arapaho, the dark moorit, to see if she is in fact light badgerface patterned.

Jasmine's girls all grown up

Here is Jasmine and her twin girls. Man are they growing fast! I had the musket girl and was looking at the skin and base of the fleece and its nearly a cream color, with the moorit coloring on the last 1/2 of the fleece. The fawn katmoget girl is a lot like her mother, more aloof, while the musket girl is much more inquisitive of me. Both are NCWGA registered and will be retained.

Cleo's lambs

Sure I started to write about her lambs and can't find good photos of her black ram lamb. Both her babies are NASSA registered and I am for sure keeping her daughter. She has a moonspot that you can see on her back right flank, and she is a doll. Her brother is quite the spotlight stealer and loves to be scratched and sits in your lap. Both are extremely soft and very adorable. Also a photo of Cleo, showing her very minimal iset that has just appeared over the winter months. She is my softest ewe with a mircon of 24.2

Say hello to a very adorable boy named Reese's Pieces. He has a small 'piece' of moonspotting on his neck it appears. He is NCWGA registerable and will be available for sale.

Rooibos' ram lamb Rolo

Well these aren't day old, but they aren't recent either :) Rooibos had the smallest lamb this year and he is still smaller than the lambs even born after him but he is VERY striking. He will be fawn for sure as he is already lightening up. Rolo is NASSA registered and will be available for sale.

Meleng's black ewe

This girl is going to be an amazing girl, I can already tell you that. Just look at that consistency in her fleece from front to rear!! She is also jet black, but being her dad is a modified fawn she could possibly go shaela, time will tell. She is NASSA registered and is being retained.

Maya's Ram

Since I haven't posted in awhile I figured I'd give you day old photos and more recent photos of each lamb. This dark moorit ram lamb is out of Winter Sky Tennyson and Winter Sky Maya. Both his parents are very low microned animals, I believe both to be 22 or 23 mircons. He is a very typey, structurally correct little boy with a nice set of horns starting to grow. He will be NCWGA registered and available for sale.

Buttons' surprise!

Winter Sky Buttons, a lovely yearling ewe gave birth this morning to a very adorable moorit ram lamb. Still learning the name game with patterns so I'll let you be the judge! I was just thinking about when she was bred and when she was to lamb and if in fact it was any time soon. Her and I must be on the same wavelength :) I walked in this morning to find him up and running around already! What a morning!

Cleo finally commits to lambing!

Well I can finally rest easy(ier). After what seemed like eons of waiting. Cleo was as big as a house and I was thinking MAYBE triplets, but she still decided to give me two. Interestingly last year she also had a black ram and a moorit ewe so now she is seeming to carry on a tradition :)

My very first lambs!

After what seemed like eternity and thoughts of doubtcreeping into my mind, my first ewe finally decided to bless me with not one baby, but TWO! And to top it off they are both ewe lambs and adorable! Jasmine Phoenix is a first time mother who is very attentive to her babies and I couldn't be happier with the end results! The first girl is a grey katmoget and the second is a moorit blettet who looks like she will go Ag and be a musket when older. Time will tell. I'm still learning the names of the colors :)
