Diet Pop

Well I've officially had no soda (diet or regular) for nearly two months now. I'm glad I quit! Just read this link:

http://health.yahoo.com/experts/eatthis/22630/the-truth-about-diet-soda/

Gross is all I have to say! I can't believe I was so hooked! The first week was terribly painful with no pop..huge migraines, dizziness and lack of energy. Now I can't believe I ever drank that gross stuff!

I'm so very proud of you for doing this!! Next thing you should start investigating is the benefits of raising your sheep and cattle on grass alone. There is a huge difference in the nutrient quality in grass fed animals as opposed to grain fed animals. I'm doing it!

hey Kim! The sheep get no corn or grain rations, just the beet pulp mixture I give during and right before lambing.

The cattle haven't had grain in a few years, the calves raised solely on grass alone. In the winter they get grass/alfalfa hay and corn silage (which is a roughage and not a grain) and uses the entire corn plant itself (being in the grass family) with the leaves, stalk and tassel making up the most of the feedstuff. They look better than ever!

I've been eating healthier too! No fast food, no white bread/flour/sugar/rice, no candies (except an occasional chocolate) and most everything I have is multi-grain, whole grain, 12 grain, etc. Fresh, local produce and home raised meats! I love it!

Good for you, Garrett! I'm proud of you! I gave up all sodas about 2 years ago, and Rus very rarely has any soda...maybe at a show, if there isn't tea. Bekka doesn't usually drink soda, either.

Hmmm...guess that means no junk food at the St. Paul show this weekend? I'm not making butterscotch bars, so you're safe there. ;)

See you Thursday! Can't wait! Happy New Year!

Hugs!
Sherilyn

Okay I am in. I will give it a try, no soda, number one New Year's Resolution! Do I have to give up my morning coffee too? Baby steps! I am going to try to eat healthier in general. Thanks for the kick in the right direction! We will see how I do.

Nope, Kara....coffee isn't that bad for you, in moderation. :) And tea is good for you, too!

Good for you Garrett! I quit drinking pop a few years ago. I had to give up coffee then too, but I've since gone back to coffee. The best thing was that I lost weight without even trying, just skipping those extra calories in the pop did the trick. I never was one to drink diet pop, that always just made me hungrier and gave me headeaches.

A friend of my had some terrible problems from drinking diet pop. I'm glad you stopped drinking it. I used to drink a regular one now and then but now I have braces (ick...at 50!) and I'm not allowed...probably a good thing! Wishing you a very Happy New Year!! Tammy

Good for you, Garrett! I have cut way-back, but haven't quit. I usually do when we're in NZ. Maybe after the next rip, I'll just not start up again.

(And I've been raising grass-only fed animals for quite a while. I have 3 boys going for slaughter next month. We'll see how they do on grass hay feeding.

A long time coming!

It has been a long time. Too long in fact. We lost access to our farm website and ebonwald website when WEBS.COM was closed by VistaPrint. ...
